No Henchmen???
So I started playing in Tyria and my character is a Necromancer/Monk (good choice or not? I like it,anyway!),but I can't find any henchman!! The manual says they are almost everywhere, but I never found one...or at least I never recognized anyone of them! Am I just stupid? Maybe yes...

If you have just started in Tyria then I assume that you're still in Pre-Searing. No henchmen here as it is just the training part of the game. Henchmen are available in all outposts/towns/mission areas once you move onto Post-Searing - the main game.

I'm sure I didn't have a problem with henchies in Tyria. I don't really remember - the only character I every started in Tyria was an ele, got to lvl6, and thought "sod this for a joke" and went back to Factions! There are Henchmen in Tyria after pre-searing, but when compared to Cantha it really is a piss-poor selection!

Consider this 'Pre-Searing' area (or where you first show up with a new character in Tyria) as being the equivalent of Shing Jea Island, but much easier, that's why there's no henchies, you just don't need them. Once you move to 'Post-Searing' (mainland equivalent) you'll find your tipical 4 henchmen at first, that'll go up to the full 8 as you progress through Tyria.

If you're planning on completing all/most of the pre-searing quests then you will be some time away from getting to party with henchmen. You will get to Post-Searing after you have gotten your second profession and have completed 'A Second Profession' quest, which will lead you to 'The Path to Glory' quest. Completing this will take you to the academy where you will move onto Post-Searing. Once you get there, your character can never return to Pre-Searing. If it is your first character in GW then don't rush through Pre-Searing just so you can get henchmen to party with. Your game, at the moment, is to get use to the mechanics of the game, your character and prepare you for the main game. If you rush then you may find things more difficult when you advance into Post-Searing. Just follow the story, and complete the main quests and other quests you feel like doing. |

Also, the difficulty level of pre-searing is adjusted so it's easy to solo. Basically, you don't *need* henchmen in pre-searing.
BUT - there actually is a henchman, sortof, in pre-searing. Talk to the little girl Gwen just outside the gate of Ascalon. She's a (legendarily poor) healer henchman, and will follow you around and occasionally cast heals on you. |

Most people wait until they're around level 7 or 8 before moving on to post-searing. It's definitely a good idea to wait until then because once you get to post, the game gets a bit harder & leveling up beforehand will make doing the early missions/quests in post quite a bit easier. Even if you don't like pairing up with other players, be sure to at least do "Adventure With an Ally." The rez sig you get as a quest reward is invaluable. And yes, Ne/Mo is a pretty good combo! |

Make sure to clear all the map in Pre-Searing, since you cant go back. It counts towards the "Protector of Tryia" title.

First off, clearing the map has nothing to do with the protector title. This title is for missions and bonus, there are no missions in pre-searing. The cartographer title does not include pre-searing. I just started a character in pre and the title did not show up until after i moved into post and there was no percentage for pre-searing included in my title. |
